***Author’s note*** Sweet Obsession can be read as a standalone novel.

Everyone knows Brooke Wicks loves to have a good time. She’s not interested in getting serious, settling down, or limiting herself to one man. So when she meets the sexy, irresistible Mason King, she sees another opportunity to let loose and go wild. But the gorgeous Aussie isn’t interested in just a quick fling with Brooke, and if she wants to get into his bed, she’s going to have to do it on his terms.

Loving fast and hard has always been Mason’s philosophy. He doesn’t want a meaningless connection, he wants it all, and he wants it with Brooke. When she makes her one desire known—to hit it and quit it—Mason wages a plan to ensure Brooke keeps coming back for more. Or so he hopes.

Getting her attention was the easy part. Keeping it might be damn near impossible.

Sweet Obsession is where the Sweet Addiction series meets the Alabama Summer series.

Review

In a literary world with virgin heroines and all sexed-up heroes, Sweet Obsession is exactly the kind of read you will appreciate.

Teaser 3If you’ve read the Sweet Addiction series, then you know who Brooke Wicks is. She’s wild and unashamed about her love for sex and most importantly, she has the most amazing dynamic with Joey. If you’ve not read the Sweet Addiction books, a) You’re seriously missing out and b) Brooke Wicks is your wet dream come to life. Take it from me.

Not many books manage to make your love characters and want to root for them from the very first pages…but Brooke and Mason absolutely won me over. The chemistry between them is instantaneous and burns hotter than fire. But it’s not only sexual chemistry—Mason sees Brooke the way she wants to be seen, and Brooke is more than intrigued with the Australian yoga-hotshot who is so much more than just a pretty face.

It didn’t take too long for me to fall in love with Brooke. She wasn’t the quintessential Adult heroine. She knew how to prioritise and she definitely knew what the important things in life are. Add to the fact that for the course of the novel, she was temporarily living with Joey and Billy, her POV was a lot of fun to read. She was unapologetic about her love for sex, but she was also very clear that a relationship and love were not on her list of things she needed. I found myself greatly admiring her crass ways and the way she was just so much fun; the type of fun you would want to have as your best friend!

Teaser 2Mason, on the other hand, was her polar opposite, laying too much stress on intimacy and getting to actually know each other before getting down and dirty. It was…honestly it so hot. To see a guy so, so intent to know a girl, to know her, before wanting to know her body is my weak point I’ve just discovered. And Mason King was a spectacular hero, simply being the shy, crazy-for-Brooke guy that he was. Of course, that’s not to say that he didn’t want her. Trust you me, Mason’s POVs were a standing litany of blue balls and him trying to convince himself that the wait would be worth it.

And ERMAHGAWD was the wait worth it. But be prepared to wait a long, long time before Mason and Brooke really “seal the deal.” Meanwhile, there’s a lot of extra curricular stuff that they do indulge in that you can look forward to! Wink wink nudge nudge ;P

I wasn’t too happy about the fact that the book didn’t really explore why Brooke was commitment phobic. It saddened me to see that she kept Mason at arm’s length in the beginning and I wanted to know why. I really, really wanted to see if there was something specific that had happened that made her want to stay away from a stable relationship, or if it was just something she did out of habit. Since that wasn’t really explored, I’m just going to assume it was like that for her because she hadn’t found her one true love yet 🙂

Of course, it’s a J. Daniels book, so you have my personal guarantee that you will have a smile on your face THROUGHOUT this book. J is funny and smart, and a damn good author and it shows in the little things that she writes that made me giggle and snort with laughter. Her characters are not perfect but they are real and you will fall in love with them immediately after you know them.

Now, about that Joey book. When are we going to see that? 😀
